The 2024 Stanley Cup Finals was Connor McDavid’s deepest and most successful playoff run of his career to this point. In his historic postseason, he would post a whopping 42 points on 8 goals and 34 assists. In game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final McDavid would register his 32nd assist of the postseason on a goal for teammate Dylan Holloway as part of an 8-1 victory, the assist broke Wayne Gretzky’s record for most assists in one playoff year. The following night, McDavid would post four more points in the Oilers 5-3 victory making McDavid the first player in NHL history to achieve back-to-back games with four points or more in the Stanley Cup Final. McDavid’s 42 postseason points in the 2024 playoffs rank as the 4th most ever in a single postseason, behind Wayne Gretzky in 1985 (47), Mario Lemieux in 1991 (44), and Wayne Gretzky in 1988 (43).
