A man with a large baseball for a head, Mr. Met first appeared in 1963 as a cartoon drawing in programs and is believed to be the first Major League Baseball mascot to appear in human form. He was named America’s Favorite Mascot in 2012 and was elected into the Mascot Hall of Fame in 2007.
