The 1990 Topps Baseball design is one of the brand's most colourful of all time. An outer frame uses gradients to transition a dark colour into a light one. Opposite top and bottom corners have colour blocks as well, adding further contrast. These borders give way to a small inner frame that has two more colours. The player's name is in a box at the bottom of the card while their team name is in block letters at the top of the card. The card are standard-size cards. A full set consists of 792 cards. Cards were issued primarily in wax packs, rack packs and hobby and retail xmas factory sets. Subsets include All-Stars (385-407), Turn Back the Clock (661-665) and Draft Picks (scattered throughout the set). 1990 Topps Baseball inserts are exclusive to certain pack types and special offers. Rack packs have one of 22 different All-Star Glossy cards, which honour the starting lineups of the 1989 All-Star Game. Glossy Rookies are exclusive to 100-card cello packs. Batting Leaders is the most valuable of the set's inserts. One card comes in every K-Mart-exclusive jumbo blister packs. The cards are on the front and players can be easily spotted. Collectors could have mailed away for six separate ten-card sets of All-Star Glossy cards. These cards have a minimal front that has a large player photo and a small player name.
