Born in Quebec, Canada, Patrick Roy was drafted in the third round of the 1984 NHL Entry Draft by the Montreal Canadiens, a roughly three-hour drive from his hometown of Quebec City. While Roy grew up a Nordiques fan he quickly became one of the most beloved players as a member of their biggest rival the Montreal Canadiens. In Roy’s rookie season (1985-86) he would lead the Canadiens to the Stanley Cup Championship, beating the Calgary Flames in 5 games. Roy would allow only 12 goals on 125 shots in winning his first Conn Smythe Trophy. Roy would outdo himself in the 1993 Stanley Cup Finals in helping the Canadiens beat the Kings in 5 games. In this series Roy would allow only 11 goals on 155 shots en route to winning his second Conn Smythe Trophy.
